FRIDAY KHUTBAH : FREEDOM OF PALESTINE

First Khutbah

All praise is due to Allah. We praise Him, we seek His help, and we ask for His forgiveness. We seek refuge in Allah from the evil of our souls and our wrong deeds. Whomever Allah guides, none can misguide, and whomever He leaves astray, none can guide. I bear witness that there is no god worthy of worship except Allah alone, without partner, and I bear witness that Muhammad ﷺ is His servant and Messenger.

O believers!
I advise you and myself to fear Allah, for indeed Allah says in the Qur’an:

“O you who have believed, fear Allah as He should be feared and do not die except as Muslims [in submission to Him].”
(Qur’an 3:102)

Dear brothers in Islam,
Today’s khutbah is about Palestine and our shared responsibility to stand for justice and peace.

Palestine is the blessed land mentioned in the Qur’an. Allah says:

“Glory be to Him who took His servant [Muhammad ﷺ] by night from Al-Masjid Al-Haram to Al-Masjid Al-Aqsa, whose surroundings We have blessed, to show him of Our signs. Indeed, He is the Hearing, the Seeing.”
(Qur’an 17:1)

This verse reminds us of the great status of Al-Masjid Al-Aqsa and the land of Palestine in Islam. It is a sacred trust upon the Ummah to protect it and to strive for justice for its people.

O Muslims,
The suffering of our brothers and sisters in Palestine is not their burden alone; it is a responsibility upon the entire Ummah. The Prophet ﷺ said:

“The believers, in their mutual love, mercy, and compassion, are like a single body: if one part of it feels pain, the whole body responds with sleeplessness and fever.”
(Sahih al-Bukhari and Sahih Muslim)

Therefore, when our Palestinian brothers and sisters are oppressed, it is as if we ourselves are in pain. Remaining silent is not befitting for a believer. Our responsibility includes raising awareness, making du’a, supporting them through lawful means, and never abandoning their cause.

Allah commands us to support the oppressed and to stand firm for justice:

“O you who have believed, be persistently standing firm in justice, witnesses for Allah, even if it be against yourselves or parents and relatives.”
(Qur’an 4:135)

O servants of Allah,
Let us not underestimate our role. Even if we cannot be there physically, our du’a, our voices, and our support matter. Remember, the Prophet ﷺ said:

“Whoever among you sees an evil, let him change it with his hand; if he is unable, then with his tongue; and if he is unable, then with his heart – and that is the weakest of faith.”
(Sahih Muslim)

So let us at least never let our hearts be silent in the face of injustice.

Second Khutbah

All praise is due to Allah, Lord of the worlds. May peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, his family, his companions, and those who follow them with righteousness until the Day of Judgment.

O Muslims!
Indeed, Palestine is a trust for the Ummah. Supporting them is not an option; it is a duty. Allah says:

“And what is [the matter] with you that you fight not in the cause of Allah and [for] the oppressed among men, women, and children who say, ‘Our Lord, take us out of this city of oppressive people and appoint for us from Yourself a protector and appoint for us from Yourself a helper?’”
(Qur’an 4:75)

This verse is a clear call: standing with the oppressed is a shared responsibility.

The Prophet ﷺ also said:

“A Muslim is the brother of a Muslim. He does not oppress him nor abandon him.”
(Sahih al-Bukhari, Sahih Muslim)

Let us remember our brothers and sisters in Palestine in our du’a, our actions, and our solidarity. May Allah grant them victory, peace, and freedom. May Allah restore Al-Aqsa Mosque to its honor and safeguard it from oppression.

O Allah, help our brothers and sisters in Palestine and all oppressed Muslims across the world. O Allah, grant them patience, strength, and victory. O Allah, unite the Ummah upon truth and justice. O Allah, free Al-Aqsa from occupation and make us among those who support Your cause sincerely. Ameen.

Indeed, Allah commands justice, doing good, and giving to relatives, and He forbids immorality, bad conduct, and oppression. He admonishes you that perhaps you will be reminded.

So remember Allah, the Most Great, and He will remember you. Be grateful to Him, and He will increase you. And the remembrance of Allah is greater, and Allah knows what you do.
